What gives you clarity?
Me, coaching. Why? Because it supports me to find the right answers to my challenges by asking questions.
In coaching, the focus is on the present, looking for one’s own solutions that can be implemented in the near future. Each of us has different knowledge and experiences. So, advice is not necessarily the most useful. What works for me is very likely not to work for you and vice versa. The beauty of coaching is that it helps you discover for yourself the best solutions and concerns that are really important to you.
I recommend a set of 3 questions that can help you when you are looking for clarity in the order of solving problems:
To the question “What concerns you?”, the first answer you give will probably not be the most honest or important.
So the question “What else?” helps you dig deeper for the truth and the things that are really important to you. This question is said to be the best question in coaching and is recommended to be asked a minimum of 3, maximum of 5 times. When you get to the point of answering “There is nothing else that concerns me” you know you have achieved your goal.
The question “Which of the concerns listed is most important to you?” will give you clarity in prioritizing what is really important and urgent to you.
People turn to coaching for different reasons, but the underlying reason is always the discrepancy between dreams and reality.
Through coaching, you are guided to adopt a new direction and take steps to become happy, not to be content staying in the same place, in your comfort zone.
Only a third of the population knows the secret of happiness, a feeling that comes only from within. Happiness depends not on what you have, but on who you are. And you are responsible for your life and your happiness. So what does it mean for you to be happy? How happy do you feel right now in your life on a scale of 1 to 10? If your answer is below 7 then you most likely need to do something to work on your happiness. A coaching session might help you take a first step.
Coaching is about self-awareness, discovering where you are and looking for ways to move forward. This is done by asking simple questions. And the coach’s role is to ask the right questions, at the right time, to discover the right answers. Remember: the most appropriate solutions to your challenges are always with you. You just have to be honest with yourself and curious to discover them.
