What do you understand by leadership?
We live in a time when many talk about it, but few truly understand it.
A simple Google search for “definition of leadership” returns over 2.5 million results.
Some time ago, management was the main focus of successful companies. Now, however, most organizations are shifting their attention to leadership, and it has even become a trend.
But why this change in perspective?
Because leadership is about transforming into a better leader—something that increases efficiency and impact.

There are different definitions of leadership.
One of them comes from John C. Maxwell, who states that “Leadership is influence.”
It is the ability to lead and influence the people around you. You cannot be a leader if you do not have people to guide toward a goal.
Or, as James S. Georges put it, “Leadership is the ability to attract followers.”
Whether you prove to be a good leader or not depends on your values, abilities, and objectives.
Sometimes, leadership is mistakenly defined as a position.
Some people seek the title (e.g., becoming a manager, CEO, etc.), but if you hold a position without delivering results, gaining respect, or truly inspiring others, you are only at the first level of leadership—a formal leader.
There are also individuals who influence others without holding a leadership position—these are informal leaders.

If you think you won’t succeed in leadership because you’re not an influential person, you’re mistaken.
Even the most introverted person has influence. The more you grow as a leader, the greater your influence will be in the world around you.
You will never truly know whom or how you have influenced. Even small actions or words can have a lasting impact.
Robert Dilenschneider speaks about a triangle of power, made up of communication, recognition, and influence, which I believe is the best place to start.
The more you invest in your influence, the greater the impact you will have on society.

I believe it is very important to clarify this aspect as well.
First of all, leadership is not innate.
You are not born a successful leader. Leadership must be developed and improved through conscious effort.
Secondly, leadership is not determined by age or position.
You can be a great leader regardless of your age or job title.
Thirdly, leadership does not develop overnight.
You need to start working on your leadership skills now to have a positive impact on your team tomorrow. This should not be postponed until you reach a certain position or rank.
